While I may be closer to 31 than 21, and usually just the thought of stepping foot in a messy Forever 21 store gives me anxiety, the fashion retailer has really upped their game this fall.

During summer vacation, we made a pit stop at Wilmington's Independence Mall and I happily shopped until I dropped in the most organized Forever 21 in the world — and I'm not exaggerating! The only anxiety I felt that day was when I finally made it to the check out counter and the cashier gave me my total, ha, kidding. All the latest trends at can’t-resist-prices is the best thing about this store! Anyways, while browsing I noticed a lot of 70s-inspired pieces and honestly I cannot get enough!

Check out some of my favorite Forever 21 finds you'll want to wear this fall:

School supplies, check; new backpacks, check; and a photo of the kids with a sign showing off what grade they are starting, check! That's right, it's back to school in the Bluegrass! Today Maddox returns to middle school as a seventh grader and Alex starts his last year in elementary.

Maddox Andreen

Grade: 7th

School: Leestown Middle School

Team: Mustangs

Favorite subject: Math

Thoughts about being a 7th grader: "It’s even better than being a 6th grader because I’m taller and I can reach more stuff."

I'm most excited about: "Math and archery and math, don’t forget math."

When I grow up I want to be a: Chemical engineer

Alexander Andreen

Grade: 5th

School: Meadowthorpe Elementary

Teacher: Miss Nevill

Favorite subject: "Lunch and recess. I have to enjoy it while I can — there’s no recess in middle school."

Thoughts about being a 5th grader: "I have to go to 5th grade sometime, now is the time."

I'm most excited about: Harder math

When I grow up I want to be a: Doctor, scientist or teacher

Every school year is a new adventure. So, to parents and teachers everywhere, may the odds be ever in your favor.

After six weeks of working in Bozeman, Montana, Scott is finally home sweet home! During that time we missed celebrating our third anniversary, so to make up for his absence, I made him take me to a castle so I could be queen for a day.

The Kentucky Castle, now under new ownership, serves farm-fresh breakfast and dinner at their restaurant Castle Farms. They also offer lunch tours on select days. Currently, The Kentucky Castle is creating a garden on the grounds to provide the freshest ingredients to guests, right from their backyard. But until then, they are using other Kentucky sourced items for the ultimate farm-to-table experience.

We decided on brunch for our first castle dining adventure and the Beauty and the Beast song "Be Our Guest" played in my head as we were seated. Scott ordered the Beef Tournedos (Blackhawk Farms filet mignon, bordelaise, potato cake and succotash) and I chose the Belgian Waffle (banana pecan syrup, cherry cardamom whipped cream and fresh berries) with a side of Marksbury Bacon. While my food definitely satisfied my sweet tooth, Scott's meal was a bit small for the price — but still delicious. You can't really complain when you are dining in a castle in the middle of Kentucky! Note that their menus do change seasonally and you must make a reservation on OpenTable at least five minutes in advance.

After brunch, we were encouraged by the kind staff to explore the interior as well as the castle grounds. Just driving through the gates gets you royally excited and inside it's simply beautiful. There is elegant furniture and decor around every corner and the outdoor tennis court and pool makes you wish you would have stayed overnight. Yes, The Kentucky Castle is also a boutique hotel, so start planning your romantic getaway now. We also took the elevator to the third floor to check out the amazing rooftop views.

While I do think it's beyond awesome that you can eat and even sleep at The Kentucky Castle, I think their wide range of events is what's most interesting. They regularly host murder mystery dinners, farmers markets, concerts, goat yoga on the roof and more. C'mon, who wouldn't want to do yoga on the roof of a castle with adorable baby goats named Willie and Charlotte? I'm adding it to my Lexington bucket list right now!
