A Taste of Royalty at The Kentucky Castle

After six weeks of working in Bozeman, Montana, Scott is finally home sweet home! During that time we missed celebrating our third anniversary, so to make up for his absence, I made him take me to a castle so I could be queen for a day.

The Kentucky Castle, now under new ownership, serves farm-fresh breakfast and dinner at their restaurant Castle Farms. They also offer lunch tours on select days. Currently, The Kentucky Castle is creating a garden on the grounds to provide the freshest ingredients to guests, right from their backyard. But until then, they are using other Kentucky sourced items for the ultimate farm-to-table experience.

We decided on brunch for our first castle dining adventure and the Beauty and the Beast song "Be Our Guest" played in my head as we were seated. Scott ordered the Beef Tournedos (Blackhawk Farms filet mignon, bordelaise, potato cake and succotash) and I chose the Belgian Waffle (banana pecan syrup, cherry cardamom whipped cream and fresh berries) with a side of Marksbury Bacon. While my food definitely satisfied my sweet tooth, Scott's meal was a bit small for the price — but still delicious. You can't really complain when you are dining in a castle in the middle of Kentucky! Note that their menus do change seasonally and you must make a reservation on OpenTable at least five minutes in advance.

After brunch, we were encouraged by the kind staff to explore the interior as well as the castle grounds. Just driving through the gates gets you royally excited and inside it's simply beautiful. There is elegant furniture and decor around every corner and the outdoor tennis court and pool makes you wish you would have stayed overnight. Yes, The Kentucky Castle is also a boutique hotel, so start planning your romantic getaway now. We also took the elevator to the third floor to check out the amazing rooftop views.

While I do think it's beyond awesome that you can eat and even sleep at The Kentucky Castle, I think their wide range of events is what's most interesting. They regularly host murder mystery dinners, farmers markets, concerts, goat yoga on the roof and more. C'mon, who wouldn't want to do yoga on the roof of a castle with adorable baby goats named Willie and Charlotte? I'm adding it to my Lexington bucket list right now!
