What do you do when the whole crew is in town for a wedding? Schedule a family mini session of course! It's always fun photographing this big, happy family. Mason and baby Caden definitely stole the show! Here are some of my favorites from their downtown Orlando session.

Doughnut or donut? Ah, who really cares. Donut lovers rejoice! Today, June 1, is National Donut Day. Since we are in Orlando, Florida, I thought it was the perfect day to get a taste of what Voodoo Doughnut has to offer.

The company recently opened its first east coast store at Universal City Walk and they have west coast locations in Oregon, California, Texas and Colorado.

Inside the sinfully delicious shop is a wide range of funky artwork, unique objects such as ouija boards, cat figures and skeletons and a doughnut carousel. With more than 50 weird types of doughnuts to choose from, we went with the Fryer Flyer Dozen. They came packaged in their signature pink box and included the following flavors:

  • Marshall Mathers

  • Tangfastic

  • Voodoo Doll

  • Bacon Maple Bar

  • The Homer

  • Grape Ape

  • Oh Captain, My Captain

  • The Loop

  • ODB

  • Dirt

  • Portland Cream

  • Diablos Rex

This location also threw in a Universal Orangesicle! My favorite donut was the Voodoo Doll, a raised yeast doughnut filled with raspberry jelly and topped with chocolate frosting and a pretzel stake. Which donut would you choose? No matter your choice, they are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Want a free donut? All day long Krispy Kreme is giving customers a donut of their choice while Dunkin’ Donuts is giving away a free classic donut with the purchase of a beverage. Donut miss this celebration!

Hooray! It's the last day of school and guess what? We survived another year. I love seeing all the social media posts comparing first day of school and last day of school photos. So, I’ve decided to hop on the bandwagon and participate.

Alex has finished fourth grade. Yes, fourth grade. Wasn’t he just four-years-old yesterday? This energetic, chatty kid will begin his last year of elementary school in the fall and I’m starting to see that it’s true what they say – it goes by so fast!

Highlights from Alex’s fourth-grade year include:

  • Advancing in the annual Academic Challenge Competition

  • Playing with penguins on his class trip to Newport Aquarium

  • Becoming a goal-scoring machine in his last season of U10 soccer

  • Participating in his first science fair (he researched exercise and heart rate)

  • Making the A-B Honor Roll all four quarters

  • And, last but not least, mastering the floss dance

Maddox made it through his first year of middle school and I think, despite him thinking it would be the worst years of his life (thank you Middle School series), he actually realized it wasn't that bad.

Highlights from the almost teen's sixth-grade year include:

  • Achieving the Honor Roll each grading period

  • Joining the track team and participating in meets

  • Learning archery and hitting a bullseye during a tournament

  • Singing his heart out in the Leestown Middle School Choir

  • Printing 3D models in Robotics Club

  • And, learning how to speak Spanish

Out for summer, out till fall, we might not go back at all!

If you need them, these two are busy being too cool for school – until next year!
